Jen (from www.jenius.com.au) & I (from www.bettysbites.blogspot.com) have teamed up & started a project for the Sydney International Food Festival and are holding guided culinary tours of Cabramatta, in the month of October 2010.
Overview
Explore Sydney's little Vietnam and taste all of its culinary treasures. You will be guided by Jennifer Lam, the editor of one of Australia's top food blogs, JENIUS: the spectacular culinary adventures of a Sydney Gen Y and the author of I Ate My Way Through Singapore & Vietnam; and Betty Pham, the editor of Betty's Bites and a Cabramatta local.
Starting with a walking tour, you will be able to familiarise yourself with the main food-shopping precincts and eateries. You will then learn about the delectable flavours of Vietnamese cuisine and discover the best places to eat Vietnamese delights such as Bún bò Huế (Hue-Style Spicy Beef Noodle Soup), Phở (Beef Noodle Soup), Bún măng vịt (Bamboo shoots and duck noodle soup), Bánh xèo (Vietnamese savoury crepes), Com Chien Ga Da Don (Crispy Skin Chicken with Tomato Rice), Bánh Mi Thit (Pork Rolls), Nước mía (Sugarcane Juice), Chuoi Chien (Banana Fritters) or Chè (Combination dessert beverages).
Note: Vegetarians are welcome! Simply indicate this on your booking form to enjoy a tailored culinary guide.
After a breakfast/lunch stop, you will be shown how to shop like a resident foodie. Jennifer and Betty will share their knowledge on Vietnamese groceries and tips on the best places for fruits, vegetables, meats and other culinary bargains.
Only available during the Crave Sydney International Food Festival, presented by Citibank.
These tours are run in intimate groups of ten so the availability is limited! Don't miss out and book today.
